The Explanation of the Buddha’s Title – “H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III”

On April 3, 2008, a solemn and dignified first-publishing ceremony of a fact-recording book entitled H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, which published jointly by the World Buddhism Publishing LLC and the World Dharma Voice, Inc., was held at the Library of the Congress of the United States. The book was also formally accepted into the collection of the Library of the Congress of the United States. Only since that time, did people in the world know that Master Wan Ko Yee, who had been broadly respected by the great masses and who had also been known as Great Dharma King Yangwo Yeshe Norbu, had been recognized by the world’s leaders, regent dharma kings, and great rinpoches of Buddhism through official documents as the third incarnation of Dorje Chang Buddha, who is the primordial Sambhogakaya Buddha of the universe. The Buddha’s name is H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Since then, people began to address His Holiness the Buddha by “Namo Dorje Chang Buddha III.” This is similar to the situation that Sakyamuni Buddha’s name was Prince Siddhartha Gotama before attaining Buddhahood. However, after Sakyamuni Buddha had attained Buddhahood, His title changed to “Namo Sakyamuni Buddha.” That is why we now address His Holiness the Buddha as “H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.” In particular, on December 12, 2012, the Senate Resolution No. 614 of the United States Congress officially used “His Holiness” in the name addressing Dorje Chang Buddha III (That is to say, “H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.”) Since then, the title and status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has been definitive by nature. And, as a matter of fact, “Dorje Chang Buddha III” is a name used legally in governmental and official legislative documents. Therefore, the previously used respected name and titles such as “Wan Ko Yee,” Great Master, and Great Dharma King no longer exist. However, the news below was published before the Buddha’s title of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was publicly announced. At that time, people did not know about the true status of His Holiness the Buddha. Therefore, to respect the true history, we still kept the names used before the title of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was legitimately determined in republishing this news. However, all must clearly know that the only legitimate name of His Holiness the Buddha is H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and all other names used before the legitimate determination no longer exist.

INTRODUCTION

For the benefit of mankind, Master Wan Ko Yee founded a form of art called “Yun sculpture” that is exquisite and mysterious. Through this form of art, which is unprecedented in the history of this world, Master Wan Ko has created carvings that excel even the beauty of nature’s creations.

Master Wan Ko has a very high reputation throughout the world. It is difficult to describe what great respect people have for him. When he visited Taiwan in 1995, more than 10,000 people went to the Chiang Kai-Shek Airport in Taipei to greet him, and there were more than 1,700 cars at that airport on which words of welcome were attached. One can see just how virtuous the Master is to receive such astounding reverence!

What is “Yun sculpture“? Art connoisseurs cannot describe in words just how beautiful such sculptures are. They can only say things such as, “Nobody would believe that a human being carved these works of art. This is truly a great contribution to human art and civilization! This form of art is astonishing and historically significant!” “This is so incredible! These carvings transcend the realm of human art. If you say that they are products of this world, nobody will believe you since nobody has ever before seen such beautiful objects.”

An art connoisseur by the name of Ms. Beatrice Canterbury Lavery was astonished after she attended an exhibition of the Master’s sculptures. She said to a former chairman of Christie’s, Los Angeles, “I cannot believe that such mysterious and beautiful art exists in this world!” The former chairman asked her, “What makes those sculptures so special?” Ms. Lavery replied, “It is very difficult to describe in words. That exhibition displayed the most phenomenal miniature art I have ever seen. It was like peaking into wondrous caves. It made one want to crawl in and be part of the scenes. All I can say is that the beauty of those sculptures is enrapturing!”

Ambassador Marina Valere from the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago praised the Master’s works, saying, “Dr. Yee’s exhibition was an almost unreal experience. His inspiration must have come from a supreme force that helped guide his hand to create such almost indescribable works of art. A marvelous experience!”

Some of the honored guests who attended an exhibition of Yun sculptures included Ambassador Carlos Holguin from Columbia, Ambassador Michael King from Barbados, Ambassador Antoine from Grenada, Ambassador Chase from Paraguay, and many ambassadors from various countries. They were enraptured by the sculptures on display. They walked back and forth in the exhibition room, continually uttering words of praise.

When United States Congressman Hanrahan walked in front of the sculpture entitled “Tang Huang Kuai Shi Xi”(“A Majestic and Splendid Stone Suggestive of Poetry, Song, and Painting”), he continuously nodded his head, saying to himself, “Amazing!”

The Chief of Protocol for the Organization of American States, Ana O’Brien, said, “This is surely amazing. Stunning!”

The Chairman of the White House President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Dr. John Tsu, said that the Master’s sculptures are divine craftsmanship, that they excel natural creations, that nobody in history has created such works of art, and that nobody can duplicate them. He also said that after former President George H. W. Bush saw the Master’s Yun sculptures, he lavishly praised them.

The Advisor to the Prime Minister of Belize said, “Many people have come here today. Each of them has praised the sculptures and was amazed at them. I have not seen one person who did not praise them. Actually, these works of art could not possibly be products of this earthly realm!”

These were the sincere words that experts, art connoisseurs, and government officials, unable to restrain their emotions, uttered as they viewed the Yun sculptures of Master Wan Ko Yee in the exhibition hall.

The Master’s sculptures entitled “A Gracefully Beautiful Horizontal Stone,” “The Beauty of A Tranquil Spirit,” “The Most Precious Song of the Buddha Dharma Assembly,” “Vines Entwine Ancient Precious Stones,” “Treasure of Heaven,” “A Majestic Splendid Stone Suggestive of Poetry, Song and Painting,” “Mysterious Boulder With Mist,” and “Stone Shell of Wondrous Charms,” have been unanimously praised by art connoisseurs as being treasures from heaven.

All of this is due to the Master’s wisdom and merit that he has cultivated throughout beginningless time. Because of his extraordinary and holy state of realization, he has provided mankind with such artistic enjoyment.

Master Wan Ko Yee‘s works of art surpass the highest limits of human art. They embody superlative craftsmanship that has merged with nature. That is why the Organization of American States, which is composed of 34 countries–including the United States, Canada, and Mexico-held the “Master Wan Ko Yee Yun Sculpture Exhibition” this year in the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. That exhibition was primarily directed at ambassadors from various countries, as well as United States senators and congresspersons. It stunned the entire world. Senators, congresspersons, and ambassadors concluded that Master Wan Ko Yee has made a great artistic contribution to the world.

For the first time in its history, the United States Congress held an art exhibition. On October 28th and 29th of 2003, in the “Gold Room” of House Office Building, Congress held an exhibition of Master Wan Ko’s Yun sculptures, a form of art that the Master created for the benefit of mankind. Most of the attendees of that exhibition were senators, congresspersons, and their staff. The guests came in a continuous stream. Almost 400 people voluntarily wrote down their sincere impressions in guest books. Each of them expressed amazement and praised what they saw. Some congresspersons were so moved that they uttered words of high praise during the exhibition. They said that the unique and incredible beauty and wisdom that the Master’s Yun sculptures embody are gifts of the highest order that Master Wan Ko has brought to this world for the benefit of the world.

Joycelyn Johnson from Congress was extremely moved by the Yun sculptures. She felt that this form of art reflects the beauty of another world beyond the realm of mankind. She thought that such beautiful and incredible artistic creations should be displayed at all of the large museums throughout the world so that people would have an opportunity to enjoy them. She stated that the artist who created such works must have received a certain inspiration from a holy spirit. Only then, she said, could such otherworldly beauty be brought to this world in the form of artistic creations for all to appreciate.

There were also guests who said that those sculptures were treasures from heaven brought to the human realm by Buddha or God working through Master Wan Ko in order to reveal to people of the world that the holy Dharma exists and to provide people with the highest form of artistic enjoyment, thereby giving them peace of mind.

In the entire several-thousand-year history of human civilization, no artist’s sculptures have surpassed the awe-inspiring beauty of naturally formed stones and boulders-except Master Wan Ko Yee‘s sculptures. With the appearance of Yun sculpture in the world, Master Wan Ko Yee became the pre-eminent sculptor in all of human history in three respects.

First, the beauty of his carvings surpasses the beauty of natural creations. He pioneered a form of sculpting whose works eclipse even the creations of nature itself.

Second, after carving the material into the form of an oval boulder, the Master also carves a hole inside the boulder. Inside this hole is a mysterious and changing world that is too beautiful to be absorbed all at once. One can see auspicious, wondrous, swirling mist. He is the only person in history who has been able to create mist within his carvings.

Third, no matter what scientific method any master artisan in the world may use, it will be impossible for such person to duplicate the Master’s sculptures. Master Wan Ko has founded a form of sculpting whose works of art cannot be duplicated.

When these exquisite sculptures are viewed from different angles, one can see various wonderful and fascinating sights that seem to be constantly changing. When climbing up a cliff, or when looking inside the hole of certain boulders to see their remarkable sights, one may see auspicious mist spiraling upward. One then experiences a carefree and peaceful feeling that is difficult to describe. The limestone caves in China’s Guangxi Province, the inside of the Ludi cave, the Grand Canyon in the United States, Yellowstone Park, and the limestone caves in Columbia–all of which are the most amazing caves and scenery in the world-cannot match the marvelous, exquisite sculptures of Master Wan Ko. One can only praise the Master’s carvings, since the amazing sights that he has produced do not otherwise exist in the world. Such beautiful scenes truly cannot be found elsewhere in the world.

The value of Master Wan Ko‘s exquisite Yun sculptures is extremely high. These carvings are not just rare treasures; they are unique treasures. Mr. Lin, who is chairman of the Board of Taiwan Microlite Industrial Co., Ltd., very much liked the Master’s sculptures. He offered US$5,000,000 to purchase a carving by the Master called “Mysterious Boulder with Mist.” Another gentleman from Thailand offered US$10,000,000 for that carving. The Master refused their offers and said, “A monetary price cannot be used to measure the true worth of these sculptures. They do not belong to me. They are works of art that will be bequeathed to human civilization.” Thus, those two men were not able to purchase that sculpture. However, Mr. Lin got his camera and began taking pictures of the styles and features of various exquisite Yun sculptures.

Carvings that Master Wan Ko creates from the Yun sculpture form of art that he founded can truly be called unique treasures. Master Wan Ko was able to create these treasures based upon his high state of realization, profound and extensive knowledge, as well as his penetration of the laws that underlie the birth, growth, and change of all things in the universe.

Because Master Wan Ko is the most outstanding Master of saintly wisdom in the world, many world-renowned masters who are highly achieved in saintly wisdom have formally acknowledged him as their Master. The Master has reached great heights in areas such as philosophy of life and the universe, science, sociology, medicine, poetry, calligraphy, painting, and art.

Take, for example, the area of painting. We spent more than one year carefully investigating material relating to numerous painters. There has been no painter in all of history-whether in ancient times or modern times, in the Orient or in the Occident-who can match Master Wan Ko. This is because the Master can, with the highest level of excellence, paint landscapes, flowers, birds, fish, insects, animals, and people. With the utmost proficiency, he can use artistic techniques such as heavy colors, light colors, fine brushwork, freehand brushwork, splash-ink, and oil painting. The Master’s paintings entitled “Majesty” and “Venerable Da Li Wan” sold at an international auction for US$2,125,327 and US$2,207,912, respectively. This set new records for the highest priced painting of any living artist in the world. In recent years, the calligraphy that the Master wrote in meditation state truly embodies the pinnacle of excellence.

We are now publishing these pictures serigraphs of the Master’s Yun sculptures. These carvings are a crystallization of Master Wan Ko‘s astounding talents and abilities in various fields. Because the Master can truly be called a master artisan with amazingly vast knowledge and abundant talents, he was able to create works of art that eclipse the graceful beauty of natural exotic stones. His works surpass the superlative craftsmanship of nature itself, which produces its creations over millions of years. His ability to create sculptures that excel nature is unparalleled in all of human history. This ability, which has never before been perfected in anyone else, has finally appeared in this world through Master Wan Ko. This will open up a new and astounding chapter in the history of civilization and art!

After you have viewed the Master’s exquisite sculptures, you can then appreciate his wonderful Chinese poems and calligraphy. You will surely find them captivating and marvelous. You will discover that the Master has reached the peak of perfection in the composition of Chinese poems, whether they be poems in the “hao fang” style or the “wan yue” style. Those are the two major styles of Chinese poetry. The “hao fang” style is bold, powerful, and unconstrained, while the “wan yue” style is soft, elegant, and graceful.

In the history of China, there was a literary giant by the name of Su Dong-Po, who wrote a poem in the “nian nu jiao” format that started with the words, “The mighty river flows eastward.” That poem has been praised and cherished throughout the ages. Those who read the Master’s Chinese poem in the “nian nu jiao” format entitled “Dun Ru Qian Kun” will see that this poem is much more bold and stirring. It can be called a unique masterpiece because it is a magnificently conceived poem with a powerful and far-reaching tone. On the other hand, the Master’s Chinese poem in the “ye ban le” format entitled “Pu Jiang Zhi Ye” is soft, elegant, and graceful.

After you have gazed upon the Master’s calligraphy, you might lift your brush and attempt to imitate such writing. However, you will then realize that he is a consummate calligrapher. You will discover that he can write extraordinarily well in the style of ancient bronze and stone inscriptions or any other scholarly style. You will understand that he possesses remarkably profound and extensive learning. Indeed, his calligraphy has reached perfection and cannot be imitated by ordinary people.

Because the Master is exceptionally talented and brilliant in numerous fields, because he possesses all forms of wisdom, from common to profound, and because he is fully proficient in the Five Sciences, only he has been able to bring to this world such extraordinary and unique exquisite sculptures. Without Master Wan Ko, people would not see such incomparably wonderful works of art and would not be able to view this book containing the pictures of Yun sculpture.

The 300 pictures of Yun sculptures contained in this book are inexhaustibly beautiful. This book truly evinces what the ancient Chinese characterized as the zenith of poetry, calligraphy, and painting. That is why it is a masterpiece unique in the world. Nonetheless, they represent only one percent of the Master’s exquisite Yun sculptures. Thus, one cannot appreciate the vast mystery of this form of art called “Yun sculpture” by simply viewing these pictures. Nevertheless, this book will provide people with wonderfully pleasant experiences. Therefore, this collection of pictures is a treasure that cannot be found elsewhere.
